Caterpillars and cauliflowers

August 27, 2018 / by JaimeLee / 8 Comments

My ankles are SO itchy.

When my husband came home from work, I think half the mosquitos in the neighbourhood came in with him and they were all hungry for feet. I swear I had to wrestle one of the little blood suckers off of me. It did not want to let go.

I was bleeding.

She won.

Besides that, today was a great day. I got lots of work done. Not as much as I had hoped to, mind you, which is normal for a Monday, but enough that I felt productive.

I didn’t get to the gym today and I haven’t been in a couple of weeks now. I miss exercise, but I have a plan to go to a class tomorrow evening. Looking forward to it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the book I’m going to write after I finish with Rhyme. I probably should be putting that thought into this final book, but when you get a bunch of new characters in your head, you can’t exactly just tell them to stop talking to you. Once the idea’s in there, it’s in there.

Today I googled “how to get caterpillars out of your cauliflower” which will give you an idea of what it’s like to buy organic vegetables. Apparently, there’s a type of butterfly that likes to lay its eggs on cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower plants. The little guys hatch and live on the veggies and then people like me buy those vegetables, choosing to buy caterpillars instead of chemicals. Then we find little green friends crawling around the kitchen, and when you don’t want to eat them, you find creative ways to make them get out of your food.

In other news, because I’ll be writing YA, I need to read everything I can in the genre. So, I requested a book from the library earlier. Cinder, by Marissa Meyer. It’s a sci-fi retelling of Cinderella, so really, what’s not to like?

I just checked in on my buttons from Six Cent Press. They’re already in Quebec, so I am estimating they’ll be here later this week! I can’t wait to put my Street Team kits together for the first of my members. It’s going to be so much fun.

That reminds me, I have to come up with some ways for kids to participate without having to use iPods or iPhones or the Internet. More details on that to come.

Alright. I’m going to sign off now and finish writing the Ancient Fall chapter I was working on earlier.

I’ll check in again tomorrow.

❤️

That’s funny! I just recently started reading the novel Cinder from Marissa Meyer as well and I really look forward to the rest of the series!

I never read the whole book yet, but I’m enjoying it so far! I guess it all depends on your taste and what kind of stories you enjoy most, I definitely think you’ll like it though.

      Mosquitoes are jerks.
