Yesterday was quite a busy day. I like busy.
I spent the day working on website content for two of my wonderful clients, then around 5:00 our family hit the road to the opposite side of the island. We dropped the girls off with their Mann grandparents while we went to a wake, to pay our respects and give hugs to a friend who’s mother passed away this week.
We didn’t get home until almost 11:30pm, so there was no writing done on Ancient Fall as I’d planned, but I did see lots of beautiful scenery on the way that inspired some ideas. Also, the town of Alberton is absolutely beautiful. I’d never been before.
I always tell kids when I’m in classrooms that I think the best way to come up with ideas for stories is to keep your eyes open. Observe the world. Be curious. If you’re sitting in a car for three hours, look around and imagine what made that big clump in the top of a scrawny old tree, or why the clouds are forming the way they are, or what might be frolicking beneath the surface of a sea of pink clover.
Anyway, that was my Friday.
Today I have a plan. Five hours of client work, then after that’s done, I get to work on Rhyme. This should be possible because Jason (husband) is taking the kids to the local Lego club this morning for a couple of hours, so I get a good stretch of quiet.
Don’t tell anyone, but I feel a cold trying to settle in. If we don’t say it out loud, maybe it will go away. I handle colds just fine, but I don’t have time to be sick right now. And my kid has band camp next week and there are all kinds of things on my plate. So, I’m taking my magic cure of Oil of Oregano and raw garlic cloves to see if it will go away. This remedy should also protect me from vampires and also anyone who would like a kiss.
Currently, it’s 7:15am. I am drinking coffee and working on a kit for my Street Team members.
My publicity team is working on a little promotional flyer for the kit, so members can pass it along to any of their friends who are into fantasy novels and series’. I have some swag items being developed, I’m looking into getting stickers, some new bookmarks, and bookplates, that kind of stuff.
Oh, and every club needs a proper club house, so I have someone working on that for us, too. There will even be a secret handshake you need to get in. Which actually will be a password, but it’s still fun.
I even have an idea for our first Street Team challenge. I think it will involve creating some fan fiction. That would be fun, right?
All of this stuff makes me so excited! But, I need to go and get some work done so that I can play with Asher and Ariana this afternoon.
If you or someone you know is a huge Legend of Rhyme fan, please direct them here to my blog, so they can find out about the Street Team. All the info about joining is here. There’s lots of room for members.
Love you!
Peace. ❤️
(Also, I swear on all that’s holy, my oven will be cleaned out today. Sigh.)
