Sitting here sipping coffee and I should be working, but I haven’t blogged since January, and so that’s what I decided to turn my attention to.
I have lots of things to share with you guys since I’ve been neglecting you for so long. (Not on purpose.)
Book Four(!)
For those of you who’ve been wondering, the fourth book in the Legend of Rhyme series, Second Twin, is all put to bed and ready to be published in September. Phew. That one took a billion Mann hours but I’m very proud of it. I don’t have a specific date yet, but the book will definitely be available for sale by mid-September.
School Visits
I haven’t been doing a lot of school visits this year because priority was on finishing that fourth novel. I’m starting to get back into a rhythm now, though, and will hopefully be getting out to some schools I haven’t visited before by the end of this school year.

Earlier this month I did hit the road and visited Inglis Street Elementary School in downtown Halifax. I read to the Grades 5 and 6 classes and the kids there really seemed to enjoy Elora of Stone. (Phew.) I also met the nice people at Woozles Book Store and am hoping they will decide to carry my books. (In retrospect, a photo of the school, and/or bookstore would have been good. Oh well.)
Authors for Indies
Authors for Indies Day is this coming Saturday, April 30. This is a great day, all about authors supporting those independent book stores that are so good to us. I am excited to be taking a shift at the Bookmark in Charlottetown from 10am-11am along with some authors I greatly admire, including Hugh MacDonald and David Weale. It’s going to be lots of fun! There will be a scavenger hunt, a photo booth (I hope to get a photo with those authors myself!), literary-themed treats, and some readings. I’m really looking forward to it and I hope that you make an effort to get out and support an Authors for Indies event near you!
Reading Town PEI
During the first week of May, PEI formally celebrates literacy. There are many fabulous Reading Town events happening over the coming days, and you should really try to check some of them out. Yay for reading!
Book Five (!!)
Work has begun on Blood and Stars, the fifth book in the LOR series! I’ve had a look at the proposed cover art and, you guys, it is going to be so beautiful!! (That’s what I was working on in the photo with the typewriter at the top of this post.)
Ok. Now I have to get back to work! I’m meeting my beautiful editor for lunch!
Ciao <3
