So many books!

October 7, 2014 / by JaimeLee / 4 Comments

This is an average day.

It is 5:05pm on a Tuesday. I am finishing up my paid work for the day (which I started at about 8:30 this morning), working on some blog posts for clients of my co-owned company, Manley Mann Media, and dreaming about the time after my darling children go to bed. (I love them, but I love that quiet time when I can sit down with a glass of wine and play with my characters again.)

The kitchen sink is dripping. We need a new one. It is driving me insane, the drip, drip, drip.

The girls are screaming at each other, unable to decide on Lego or Barbie.

The coffee I made for myself an hour ago is cold. I’ve had about three sips out of the mug.

I’m trying to find the motivation to get up and start supper. (Tonight it’s going to be oven fried chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies…mmm.)

My husband called to say he’ll be an hour late leaving work.

I’ve decided to skip my kettlebell class this evening because I’m fighting a chest cold and I seem to be winning. Trying to listen to my body, which is a hard thing to do. Good decision, I guess, cause Jason wouldn’t have been home in time to watch the kids anyway.

Yes, it’s an average day.

But, there is so much excitement bubbling inside of me that it’s hard to contain.

I realized today that I have four books in the works right now. FOUR!

Elora of Stone is with Christine (from hereon out we’re going to call her Chris cause that’s what I call her and I’ll be talking about her a lot) for it’s (please god) final edit before it’s sent to the publisher.

Into Coraira is also with Chris (that’s better) for its first structural edit after my own (i dunno, 8 million) revisions, and I’m actively writing the third novel in the Legend of Stone series, Teagan of Tomorrow (it’s going to be a good one, people).

I sent off my media kit yesterday to the publicity team I’m working with, and they’re helping on the promotional side of things. That’s all going to heat up pretty soon.

Oh, and I received a storyboard today from Starla Wilson, the talented illustrator who’s turning my story, A bug is a bug is a bug, into a picture book. I’m telling you, even the basic sketches are amazing. I am full of excitement for this book all over again (I wrote the thing in 2007).

Anyway, that’s how things look from my kitchen table today. And it is now 5:21 and I really do have to get supper going.

And in case you were wondering, we made a compromise: 30 minutes of Barbie and then 30 minutes of Lego. God help me.

I feel weird when you use my full name—like I’m in trouble. I noticeably relaxed when you said “Chris.” xo

I know how using your full name makes you feel. I won’t do it again. 🙂

So much to look forward to! And a French press, really? Sheesh, that’s strong java! You’re not fooling around.

      Coffee is serious business.
